To raise public awareness of medical/emotional/social/community support needed for patients of pediatric cardiology.
Counsel and educate members about leading healthy and active lifestyle as well as heart healthy eating habits.
Encourage and Inspire patients suffering with cardiac disease or cardiac defect to maximize their personal growth and development.
Develop discipline, commitment and other personal qualities.
Provide funding and financial support to patients, local hospitals, clinics, and research facilities which are advancing the medical treatment of heart disease.
We are not only speaking about heart health, but actively practicing it in our community! Our mobile fitness classes as well as healthy lifestyle information is intended to reach our entire community, with the goal of improving/maintaining long term heart health. Our strongest assets are the fitness expertise and ability to take our programs to any facility. We have coaches who are experienced in: Track coaching, Strength and Conditioning, Functional training, and Boxing. We also have a Youth Fitness Specialist, Dietitians as well as a Social Workers on our staff.
Our goals are to: educate, help develop healthy habits, and improve quality of life as well as longevity. As a start up non-profit, we are able to create events, fitness classes and join community efforts on a very short notice, and execute at the highest quality level.
who we are
Heart disease is the number one killer worldwide. Most common cause for heart disease is Atherosclerosis (plaque buildup thickens and stiffens artery walls, which can inhibit blood flow through your arteries to your organs and tissues). It can be caused by correctable problems, such as an unhealthy diet, lack of exercise, being overweight, gut health, and smoking. This is where we come in! Fight For Hearts utilizes functional movements, boxing, and fitness to get our community healthy by developing habits! We focus on both strengthening the heart muscle (in a way that it helped Srdan Lukic) and also as a preventative measure to fight Heart Disease. We also provide information on healthy diets, and strive to help our members make healthy food choices, (without pushing specific diets).
My name is Srdan Lukic, and I survived 3 open heart surgeries (TGV/VSD), and Hepatitis C (due to blood transfusion, and cleared in 2015). I understand the difficulties of living with with restrictions and having to take extra care of yourself without much guidance. In my early 20's I begun focusing on healthy living and daily exercise. I not only improved my heart health by lowering my resting heart rate, as well as blood pressure, but also gained confidence which translated to other areas of my life. Fight For Hearts is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt non profit organization composed of fitness professionals who's goal is to raise awareness, educate, and improve the heart health of our community. Supporting patients of heart disease/disorder is also our focus, and we explain basic steps to avoid dangers of sedentary lifestyle. We also use fitness and healthy living as a preventative measure, helping minimize the risk of heart disease within our community.
Two major things that we are fighting are sedentary lifestyle, and the standard american diet. Functional fitness is our primary tool, but we also educate and invest time to develop long term heart healthy habits. We don’t stick to a single nutritional approach, as most “diets” are flawed not sustainable in the areas and populations that we work with. We promote a diet comprised mostly of minimally processed, generally plant-predominant foods in balanced combinations which is proven stands to reduce the risk of all chronic diseases (True Health Initiative).
Through research, literature, and the study of centenarians we are beginning to understand what longevity is dictated by numerous factors. We truly believe that a comprehensive program is needed in order to create the greatest impact.
